Maintenance Update – June 13th, 2022
Hello Collectors!
Since our last update announcing our drop-free timeframe between June 1 through now, we have been hard at work making some changes to how we handle items. Unfortunately, we did not accomplish everything we set out to do within that timeframe and need to extend the drop-free period to July 5th. Although there are no planned drops until we get all of our changes resolved, we do want to keep up the activity and give you something to do, so here are some things to look forward to over the next couple of weeks.
Double Prestige XP
- June 13th – 17th: Life’s a Beach & WallaBeach Castles
- June 18th – 19th: Cruise Control
- June 20th – 24th: BeeHive Beach & Surf’s Up!
- June 25th – 26th: SUPER YOTE
- June 27th – July 1st: Cooking With Fire & Picnic In The Park
- July 2nd – 4th: Carnival of Curiosities
The Patriotic Mystery Box Variant will be available on July 4th.
*All timeframes are in UTC. Timeframes begin at 00:00 and end at 23:59.
Since we will be skipping over all of June for releases, the June Flamingo will be released in July.
Boring Information (The Reason It’s Taking So Long)
In WallaBee, items can be destroyed. However, even though they are no longer in the game, they are in our records. There are over 94 million items created in WallaBee, with only 27 million still available to collect. Needless to say, that’s a lot of data to sort through, especially when dealing with items in players’ pouches, which can be traded, mixed, sold, purchased, opened, recycled, etc. The team began thinking about how we could handle a player’s pouch without the need to constantly reference and update our items table, where those 94 million items are stored. We thought we were on the right road with handling pouches in a different way, referencing a new table, but then met some unexpected issues with items not clearing status correctly after being traded/sold/etc. or purchased/found from places. After some hard conversations, we rolled back those changes to assess how we can move forward with handling pouches. We have a new game plan in mind but need the time to implement it. Over the next couple of weeks, our team will be working on implementing these changes, which may lead to a number of scheduled (and last-minute) downtimes. We will do our best to let you know ahead of time when applicable, through the forums and @WallaBeeGame. Any last-minute downtimes will happen immediately, with a notice in-app. We appreciate your understanding as we continue our efforts at enhancing the performance and longevity of WallaBee.
